I don't manage to get rid of downloading files : I tried to cancel files in the transfert menu but impossible to do (and I have reinstalled Ares several times)

Might somebody help me resolve this problem?

Have you tried using a client called FrostWire or eMule? They seem to work good and also they tend to find better search results than Ares.
