Downloading Itunes

My boyfriend got me an ipod nano for my birthday, we dowloaded itunes, and when it finished downloading we tried to open it up and nothing happened. We tried this many times and still nothing. We uninstalled it and tried it again, and again, and again. This went on for an hour, and still nothing. Then my boyfriend tried downloading an older version, it actually worked but then an message came up that said that the ipod I have needs the newest version. This is getting really frustrating. Please Help

If the iPod nano was shipped after October 2006, it is likely that it requires version 7 or above. However there is a solution for this. There is a software called Songbird, by Mozilla that can add music to your ipod as well. I suggest you to try that out.

Otherwise if iTunes updates to version 8, you should try that in future!

I have updated my perfectly good iTunes for the latest version and have found that the latest version is SOO tied up in something called Gap informing or something that it completely LAGS! It SUCKS!

I want to revert to my old version but it won't download with the current version in place...if I uninstall this one and install the older version again, will I lose songs?

Whenever I select "Shuffle Songs" on my ipod nano it brings up the first song and then freezes, the last time it did it it stayed frozen for about 5 hours, and then finally turned off. Sometimes the screen turns black with the apple symbol and I am not sure why it does that. If you can help me I'd really appreciate it!
