Cover Creator Pro won't open now on 98SE

I had to reinstall WIN98SE twice recently on my old PC trying to fix a dwindling memory problem with my physical memory. I maxed out the memory on the second try w/two 128 MB modules, but I'm not sure if it will solve my problem completely. At least I can mess with CD's and photos on it again now. It may be the hard drive.

My specific problem is that now - CD Cover Creator Version 4.00.0011 (GD Software) will not open properly anymore on my old PC. It will on our newer PC (Win XP), but despite reinstalling multiple times and trying various things, it still stops prematurely. It used to work fine.

I find no older versions available on the Net, though I know there was at least 3.3 (since it is in their instructions for this version). I got an error message that a file was missing the first time (an OCX file-ccrpfd.ocx), so I made sure I didn't delete anything with RegCleaner in advance the next time I reinstalled everything on the PC. That file is IN the folder this time and it gives no error message this time around. It just hangs at the same point every time.

I can live with it only being on the newer PC, but I was used to how everything worked and looked (my comfort zone) on the old PC. They do NOT make a new free version. It is now part of another program that is not free. It has a repair option when you uninstall, but that didn't work.

It is a cool little program. I'm not Mr. Computer and I'm puzzled that it won't work now since I had a fairly complete backup.

I could send you the program itself (CD Cover Creator), as I can't figure out a good way to show you the "Help" file otherwise which shows most of the info.

When I Googled about it it sure didn't turn up much about the specific program. For a free program, it's pretty handy.

Looking back at that ccrpfd.ocx file it says it is an ActiveX control. Do you reckon my PC is now set differently ActiveX-wise or I need a driver or a patch or a plug-in? Maybe ActiveX is the key?

I had lost this program due to a hard drive crash and also having to reinstall XP on my other PC after a failed attempt to upgrade the memory (I succeeded yesterday). I got a kind person in Guatemala to send me a copy of this as even the creator of it no longer has it. I had to download a couple of Active X .dll's to get it going, but it's working. Would you want me to send this to you so it can 'stay alive?" It's a cool little free program that deserves to survive.

I don't think it will work with WIN7. I was going to be upset if I had lost it forever.
