Default Flash Player 7 with QuickBooks 2005 Premier

I can't seem to get QuickBooks installed because it wants Flash Player 7 and I can't get THAT installed.

Can anybody give me any guidance or direction? I found the download file here at OldApps and it's sitting on my Desktop. But now what? I'm not a newbie but I'm not a professional either. I need step-by-step instructions.

I'll provide whatever other information anyone might need to help me figure this out! I need to work on QuickBooks at home for work. Thanks!

    Hey ConnieVH!

    Welcome to the forums.

Unzip the file - fp7_archive.zip - using winzip.
After unzipping you will have a folder called FP7_archive. Go in that folder and open a folder called r61 and run flashplayer7r61_win.exe that should install flash 7 on your PC.

Let me know if you need more help.

    Thanks!
But unfortunately, I have encountered another snag. I got as far as you directed, but the first setup box I get says this:
"Please select the Netscape compatible browser(s) that you would like the Macromedia Flash Player to run on." The selection box is empty, and the Next button is grayed out. I can click on Browse, but what do I look for, and where? I have IE7. (Why is it referencing Netscape? I've never had Netscape...)

    Thanks, again!

I did what Iold said. When it asked me to select the browser, I clicked the BROWSE button and when to the directory “/Program Files/Internet Exployer/PLUGINS” and clicked ok. Then I was able to install and use Quick Books.

I did the same as above on my Gateway laptop and it did not work. I suspect that Quick Books install couldn't find Flash Player 7. I tried putting the Flash Player file directly under "/Program Files/Internet Exployer" and that didn't work either. Next I will try putting the path to the FP7 file in the system PATH file.
I finally was able to install QuickBooks 2005 on my laptop. I read the readme.txt that dounloaded with FlashPlayer 7 and saw that for the Window XP operating system, the file named "flashplayer7r61_winax.exe" was the one that should be used. Previously I used the file named "flashplayer7r61_win.exe", I think because that was the one someone used in a message I read. Once I clicked on the "flashplayer7r61_winax.exe" installation file to install FP7, I was able to install QS 2005 without a problem.

No. Putting FP7's path in the PATH statement did not work. I edited my message to show what ultimately worked. I was using the wrong FP7 install program for Windows XP. The correct installer program for Windows XP is "flashplayer7r61_winax.exe".
