Common Business-Oriented Language (COBOL) created

COBOL is one of the oldest programming languages, primarily designed by Grace Hopper. The decision to use the name "COBOL" was made at a meeting of the committee held on 18 September 1959. The subcommittee completed the specifications for COBOL in December 1959.
